Currently, my intended thesis statement is as follows. Even though it is against some cultural and religious beliefs, inter-racial marriages are more accepted and occur more frequently because of changes in laws and transformations in public attitudes. In formulating my arguments, I took the time to read several articles and research a variety of aspects that have had in the past or currently have an impact on inter-racial marriages. This research allowed me to find the most common and striking arguments both for and against marriages between various racial groups. One example that I came across that was used in past years against inter-racial marriages was laws that made it

Unformatted text preview: illegal and punishable by imprisonment for a couple of two different races to marry. These laws were later ruled as unconstitutional by the Supreme Court which gave many couples freedom to finally become married. This also gave me sources that I could cite in order to uphold my arguments, lending them both strength and validity. Another strength of these sources is that the authors are reputable persons who have credibility on their own standing along with being published in places that are recognized as reliable by their peers.
