This assignment will be worked on through the tutorials of Mar. 12 & 14. (Be prepared) b. Choose one of your peers to be your partner for this assignment, c. Solve the assignment together or solve it separately and check the results with each other, d. Submit just one answer sheet having both of your names, e. The same mark will be given to each one of you. f. You are required to solve all questions. Six randomly chosen questions will only be marked. g. The weight of this assignment is 2%. 1. One kilogram of water in a piston–cylinder assembly undergoes the two internally reversible processes in series shown in Figure. For each process, determine, in kJ, the heat transfer and the work. 2. Nitrogen (N2) initially occupying 0.1 m 3 at 6 bar, 247 o C undergoes an internally reversible expansion during which pV 1.2 = constant to a final state where the temperature is 37 o C. Assuming the ideal gas model with constant specific heats ( M = 28 kg/kmol, C p = 1.044 kJ/kg.K) , determine: a) the pressure at the final state, in bar.
