5 Reasons Your LinkedIn Photo Is Terrible Posted by Katherine Felts at Thursday, March 6, 2014 3:10:02 PM EST This article is about the importance of LinkedIn photos and the biggest mistakes people make with them. First of all, we have a distorted view of what we look like. People prefer to look at a picture of their reflection instead of a straight on picture of themselves. However, when seeing others, people like to look at a straight on picture of someone else. Another big mistake is letting the way we perceive ourselves affect the picture we choose. People often weed out good pictures because it highlights a feature they don't like or choose a picture that is bad but highlights a feature they like. Our judgment of pictures is also tied to the memories we have from taking them. You are much more likely to pick a picture of yourself on a happy beach trip. Others feel that too big of a smile might make them seem vulnerable.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
