HIST 111 Hebrew History and David The Hebrews have always been known for their close connection to their religion and Canon but, little is ever mentioned about the military influence and effect on the ancient Hebrews. Also, writings were of grave importance to the Hebrew people because they had to establish their identity in a very volatile land and time. So, three important elements of Hebrew civilization are religion, military, and writing. From the Old Testament in the bible, three well known characters emerge from the Hebrew time period: Moses, Joshua, and David. My focus will be that of the history around David, which who in the Bible depiction is of a small man who killed the big Goliath but, David had bigger intentions than what is conveyed in the Bible (01:00). Although religion would be the driving force behind the direction of the Hebrews, military was the tool that got the job done. The great military commander Moses led the Israelite tribes out of Egypt
