Jonathon Orwig SWA #1 Comp 1 8/23/2012 It started with a ninety-foot fall and a smash against solid concrete. I guess you could say that God would have had it that way, especially since he repeated it again three weeks later. Those two smashing experiences changed my life, and started my career as a repairman. My dad owns a feed mill and isn’t very good with phones. His mill consists of a ninety- foot “leg” that distributes grain into various bins. On the last rung of the ladder that went to the top of the leg, my dad’s phone would get caught and fall to the ground. I was a curious kid, and decided to take his phones apart since he had already gotten a new one and the two he dropped were just lying around. After a couple YouTube videos and a lot of self taught lessons, I had become skilled at fixing iPhones. It was hard at first because not just anyone would trust a thirteen-year-old boy with their main way of communication. I learned very quickly that you must persevere in your

Unformatted text preview: work, or you will never succeed. I put a lot of time and definitely a lot of effort into getting my business recognized with great feedback. Soon I had more calls coming in than I could handle. My business was amazing, I was making money, I could take days off whenever I wanted, and I was learning tons of great things. It turned into my passion. I loved every second of what I did and being self-driven; I was very successful. It made me want to pursue electronics and software in college; that’s what I am doing now. After college, I hope to get a job with Apple developing software, or start up another company. God has been very good to me, and has helped me a lot in everything I’ve done. My business has taught me a lot and I can’t complain about anything that happened. It is great and I still love what I do....
