Timothy A. Shell Alisha M. Moretti ENG 201 A December 9th, 2012 The Shoes Are Great, But Please, Tell Me More. Companies will always prepare to look their best in front of all given scenarios. MSNBC's Inside film about Nike makes no exception. Swoosh! Inside: Nike presents a documentary of the company by showing aspects like historical references and what it's doing for today's athletics industry. From this, Inside develops a very positive and important impact for the brand Nike. However, at the same time the film also misleads the viewer by not hitting the real facts that need to be explained on both sides of the spectrum. From doing so, the content shown leaves one to question how the film functions as a real documentary in the first place. Inside 's film allures the viewer with ideas like ethos through having V.I.P. corporate interviews and logos through the induction of statistical facts about their sales to cover up some much more important issues that were briefly talked about. Timing is everything, and if the timing's right, one can make anything look good. Inside 's selection Ethos persuades the audience to feel informed by interviewing the company's CEO and a selection of indorsed sports athletes but falls short with connecting facts to their claims by creating positive appeal. At 01:13, an array of short flickering clips flash the screen with a presentation of sports super stars in Swoosh product while the narrator addresses that Nike, “[has] deals with the industry's biggest mega stars.” Although this may be attractive visually, the statement really detours the audience from the real meaning of Nike. This is because the film is trying persuade to it's viewer(s) that Nike is
