Sydney Schubert Dr. Helmer Theology 111-05 11 March 2013 Response Number Eight In Chapter Ten of Faith, Religion & Theology, Hill, Knitter and Madges focus on Theology and the use of Scripture and Tradition. They define Tradition as the formation of our presupposition and the shaping of our ideas about the world, ourselves, and others. “Tradition gives us concepts, ideals and values with which we can fashion for ourselves a meaningful life” (Hill and others 319). Traditions are good to have because they help to create a foundation for values, and as time goes on, they can be built upon for a better future. Similar to tradition, “religion also tends to conserve and pass on to new generations insights and values believes to be important for conducting our relationships with one another and for establishing a relationship with Ultimate Reality” (Hill and others 319). “Much of the Christian tradition – its doctrines, moral laws, practices, forms of worship – derives from the testimony of the Bible” (Hill and others 320).

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
