4. Fluid Motion 3 4.1 Velocity Field The fluid motion can be described in terms of the velocity and acceleration of the fluid particles. The position of particle A relative to the coordinate system is given by its position vector , 𝑟𝑟 𝐴𝐴 , which if the particle is moving is a function of time. 𝑉𝑉 𝐴𝐴 = 𝑑𝑑𝑟𝑟 𝐴𝐴 𝑑𝑑𝑑𝑑 𝑉𝑉 𝐴𝐴 is the velocity of the fluid particle A.

4. Fluid Motion 4 4.1 Velocity Field The fluid motion can be described in terms of the velocity and acceleration of the fluid particles. By writing the velocity for all the fluid particles, we can have the velocity field for that fluid: 𝑉𝑉 𝐴𝐴 = 𝑉𝑉 𝐵𝐵 = 𝑉𝑉 𝐶𝐶 = 𝑉𝑉 = 𝑉𝑉 ( 𝑥𝑥 , 𝑦𝑦 , 𝑧𝑧 , 𝑑𝑑 ) The velocity field describes the fluid velocity as a function of location (x,y,z) and time (t) .
