(recognizable) customs, religion, medicine, dietary patterns, culinary habits, sexual mores, means of agriculture, and most significantly, without character (because,
according to the literature, they did not work). Other Africans, like the Xhosa who were agriculturalists, provided European discourse with enough categories for the
record, so that, through various strategies of articulation, they could be known by textual projects that accompanied the colonial project. But the Khoisan did not
