white life. This is important when thinking the Gramscian paradigm and their spiritual progenitors in the world of organizing in the U.S. today, with their
overvaluation of hegemony and civil society. Struggles over hegemony are seldom, if ever, asignifying. At some point, they require coherence and categories for the
record, meaning they contain the seeds of antiBlackness. What does it mean to be positioned not as a positive term in the
struggle for anticapitalist hegemony, i.e., a worker, but to be positioned in excess of hegemony, to be a
catalyst that disarticulates the rubric of hegemony, to be a scandal to its assumptive, foundational logic,
