3. “Limited Kick Design”. This calculates the worst
loads placed on a casing string by the largest
influx kick taken in a particular area. The name
derives from the “100 year storm” approach for
facility design in offshore areas. The design kick
may or may not actually reflect some real kick, but
is more an approach to state the size load being

The surface burst pressure limit is arbitrary, and is
set equal to the rated working pressure of the
