Theoretical Position Paper 4 Basic Theoretical Position Throughout history psychologists vary in their theoretical positions due to the fact that the original founders which is complicated to express as a science today. The founder of psychoanalysis Sigmund Freud had colleagues as well as students that became famous on their own from Freud’s 0. work. Carl, Alfred, and William were all adherent of Freud's theories all three came up with their own ideas of Sigmund 's work though. Carl, Alfred, and William half agreed with Freud but did not think Freud's theory was all that it could be thought there could be more potential. Sigmund Freud Freud believed that all issues or problems mental or physical come from childhood experiences. Freud believed strongly in his theories and didn’t not listen to anyone’s doubts. Sigmund born in 1856 died in 1939 he had oral cancer from smoking cigars he had asked a doctor friend to give him an overdose of morphine because the pain was debilitating for him to stand anymore. Some psychologists agreed with Freud others thought his work was actually a burden to the developing field of psychology. Sigmund Freud's method of treatment was universally accepted by many but also not accepted by many. His theory was that patients motives and behavior were controlled unconsciously memories. Thoughts, and sexual aggression were the main source for neurosis. Neurosis was treated by by bringing unconscious thoughts and memories back to the conscious mind and this was psychoanalytic treatment. Freud
