SimplivityData EfficiencyGUI ExplainedThis is a simple walk-through of the Simplivity Data Efficiency GUI available as part of their plug-in tothevSphere client. It uses avery simple environment with dataset sizes that are easy to follow. The purpose is to shed light on how the output is calculated, alongwith what that output is and isn't.The numbers presented here are generated in a controlled environment and if repeated may ormay not provide the exact same results. However, the overall understanding of each data point will remain constant.Virtual Machine Data= The total sum of data that Simplivityreflects as being stored across all "Simplivity datastores".This numbercounts both the primary plus the replica copy thatSimplivitycreates and also the reflection on the effects of deduplication andcompression.See Numbers walk-through below for more details.Local Backups= The amount of data thatSimplivityis storing locally (ie: the local cluster) as part of "Full Logical Backups" akasnapshots. This number counts both primary and replica copy data.See Numbers walk-through below for more detailsRemote Backups= The backup data that has been sent to another clusterData Stored= Sum of Virtual Machine Data and Local BackupsUsed Capacity= Simplivity Efficiency number divided by Data Stored
