What was the Berlin conference, when did it take place, and what were the results? Berlin Conference is also known as Congo Conference held in 1884-85 which regulated the European colonization and trade in Africa during the new imperialism period and also included the sudden rise of German as imperial power. The consequences of Berlin Conference were division of many African nations. Some states like Orange Free State and South African Republic lost their independence to British Empire. About ninety percent of the African land was controlled by European. United Kingdom conquered Boer, Morocco was divided between the French and the Spanish, Libya was conquered by Italy in 1992. 2. What are the four regions of realm? How does the region of West Africa differ from the other regions? The four regions of the realm are southern Africa, east Africa, equatorial Africa and West Africa. The region of West Africa differs from other regions in terms of developments, inventions and location. For more than 2000 years Africa had gained many sources to improve through the Western region of Africa. The Romans had arrived to southern Sudan, Arabs dhows brought goods from Asia in exchange of gold, copper, and some slaves. The western part of Africa had paved channels for many ancient traders. Ghana is regarded as the oldest city in the West Africa, which has gold-rich streams flowing off the Futa Jallon Highlands, where the Niger has its origin. For thousand years or ever longer the old Ghana had huge city having large markets, suburbs for foreign merchants, religious shrines and a fortified royal retreat. The West Africa was also the core place for slave trade during the ancient time. 3. Write a one-half to one page essay on the presence of AIDS in Africa. Give at least two
