Examining memory for heterosexual college students’ sexual experiences using an electronic mail diary. Health Psychology, 21, 629-634. 1. Before reading this study, describe why you think people’s memories for their sexual experiences will be either very accurate or not very accurate. - I think people’s memory for their sexual experiences will be very accurate because it was something that was of great importance to them therefore they can recall details of it easier. Since it was an event that gave them pleasure, it most likely will get stored in their long term memory. A. After reading the study and answering the questions below: Did the results of this study change your opinion? Explain why or why not. - After reading this study, the results of the study, my opinion has changed. According to the article, people actually underreport memories from their sexual experiences due to a variety of factors. 2. Why is the “retrospective report” a particular challenge in memory research for real world problems? - “Retrospective report” is a particular challenge in memory research for real world problems because it is often hard for people to recall things that they were not constantly thinking or rehearsing. Also as the time between reporting increases, memory of specific details decreases.
