The conflict management approach that resonates with me the most is Wageman and Donnenfeld’s Conflict Intervention Model, which distinguishes four kinds of interventions that can be used in the conflict resolution process. Their model also proposes four guiding principles for enhancing teams with respect to conflict, which in my opinion is one of the aspects about thismodel that makes it most helpful because the principles are like a guide for using the interventions that they offer (Thompson, 2014). The first intervention, which according to Wageman and Donnenfeld’s guiding principles has the largest effects, is team (re) design. This involves deliberate changes in the structure in which teams do their work. According to Wageman and Donnenfeld, this is the best place to start when it comes to managing team conflictbecause this addresses the root causes of most team conflicts (Thompson, 2014). After the team is well designed, they recommend using the second intervention, task process coaching, which is aimed specifically at improving motivation, strategy, and talent (Thompson, 2014).
