2Golshan KouklanSexual Ideology PaperHuman SexualityThe Beauty of LoveWe live in a world where love is cherished, love is dreamed about and love is beautiful. We live in a world where love can mean so much, the love you have for your family, the love you have for a significant other and most important the love you have for yourself. Throughout the quarter I have truly learned so much about my sexuality and myself. There is so much that I didn’t know about sex and sexuality but I do believe that my views on sexuality haven’t changed. Sex is apart of us and it is all around us. Knowing about ourselves sexually and our sexual orientation help us embrace the love that we deserve. Whether one is gay, straight, bisexual or asexual, their sexual orientation doesn’t define us nor does it matter. Love can come in all different shapes and sizes. Race and height, weight and ethnicity should never factor into ones sexuality and throughout the quarter I have understood that more and more. When it comes to sexuality everyone is truly different. One of the important topics that really caught my attention was the sex and gender section. There are so many stigmas against people with different sexual orientations that I truly believe that taking classes like this can make you realize that love isn’t the same for everyone and that is okay. It’s okay to love someone of the same sex. Watching the videos in module two about the different stories of people and culture that have experienced hate or prejudice because of their sexual orientation was truly depressing. I have always been open to the LGBTQ community and have a homosexual friend myself. He is no different to me than any of my other friends. I love him no les
3because of hi sexual orientation and watching the video “It Gets Better” really hit home because I remember all the sad times that my friend faced because he way gay. He struggled emotionally and mentally to not let the hate words of people get to him but it hurt. It wasn’t in the Christian faith and that was especially hard for his family to cope with. Religion and sexuality unfortunately truly do go hand in hand.
