There was a shift from working at home to bigfactories; the working conditions were life threatening and hadvery low pay. Women and children were employed when factoryowners found out they could pay them less. Some workers joinedtogether and created unions which were voluntary laborassociations. The Unions would ask for higher pay, betterworking conditions, and fewer hours. One of their tactics werestrikes where workers refused to work until the demands weremade. Unions also worked to better the lives of working womenand children. Speaking of women, for most the IndustrialRevolution was a dramatic change because that was their firsttime in the work force. Unfortunately, women had to competewith men for jobs and they were paid way less. This outraged thewomen, and some began to lead reforms against this. Thisexposure of politics to women caused the demanding of suffrageand the right to vote.
