The Truth Behind the Commercials of Garnier and Proactiv® Advertisements sometimes make extraordinary claims such as “no one makes you hair stronger” or claiming to have a “revolutionary acne skin care system discovered to banish breakouts and get clear skin.” These claims, however, need to be tested to determine their accuracy. The first experiment I conducted involved the first claim of “no one makes your hair stronger” which was the statement made by Garnier Fructis Shine Burst. The hypothesis I made based on this advertisement was that Garnier Fructis Shine Burst makes your hair the strongest. The method I used was a “between-groups experiment” since I manipulated the independent variable which was applied to different groups of subjects. My control consisted of people who did not use any shampoo for a month. My experimental groups included one that used a generic brand of shampoo and another group that used Garnier Fructis Shine Burst.
