This Journal is the official journal of the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association. Children and Libraries serves as a resource for continuing education of librarians working with children; it showcases current scholarly research and practice in library services for children. It also serves as a vehicle for communication to the ALSC membership, spotlighting significant news, activities, and initiatives of the Association. TITLE OF ARTICLE The Digital and Traditional Storytimes Research Project: Using Digitized Picture Books for Preschool Group Storytimes. This title accurately reflects the content of the research project. ABSTRACT OF ARTICLE The purpose of this study is to look at the differences and similarities that occur when preschool children listen to and view digital picture books versus a print copy of the same picture book during group storytime. The author researched how fidgety the children were, the effect of larger pictures. They also made notes on how well the children comprehended the story and the effect of the digital book on students with special needs. QUALIFICATIONS OF AUTHORS This author, Lauren Collen, has a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting from Wayne State University and a master degree in library and information science from Dominican University. She received the C. Berger Entrepreneurial Promise Award. She is a youth service librarian outside of Chicago, at the Niles Public Library District.
