Kaleigh Brooks February 18 th , 2008 Final Draft/MA #2 The End of Obama-Mania “We are the change we’ve been waiting for!” These powerful, emotion-filled words are that of a man leading a tribe of followers all across the nation. This is no cult leader, though many may see him that way, but he is your leading presidential candidate, Barack Obama. David Brooks writes about this phenomenon of followers as if it were an out-of-control new drug craze sweeping the nation in his article When the Magic Fades . As supporters of Obama start questioning the candidate’s words and actions, Brooks’ appeal is simply to tell them the blatant truth that they have overlooked, and simply asks, “What will happen after election day?” This article speaks of what so many individuals in this country have already experienced; that is, the extreme supporting of Barack Obama, also called Obama- Mania. As several readers can find themselves in this category, Brooks catches their attention, making them think,
