Ian Grazier Film Philosophy The Film Sweet Smell of Success falls under the category of film noir. It doesn’t have the characteristics of film noir to the strength that Double Indemnity does but it is a film noir movie non the less. The characteristics that make it film noir are, the time it was made, violent and aggressive characters, no happy ending, and a woman is the root of the main conflict in the movie. I personal opinion of this movie is that it is a well made movie, it kept the classes attention and had an interesting ending. However I noticed it did not incorporate elements of film we learned about to the sam extream degree of the other movies we screened. Im not saying it dident use any interesting elements, but it dident uses space, time, plot and story, implicit meaning etc as cleaverly as Double Indemnity for example. I will still review how the film did specifically incorporate these in this paper. I would have to say the film focused mainly on aspects of Mise-en-Scene. Mise-en-Scene
