Ian Grazier March 24, 2008 Film Phil The Conversation The conversation is a mystery thriller film made in 1974. It is about an extremely paranoid surveillance expert named Harry Caul. This film makes great use of sound techniques from the beginning to end. I would like to start by saying I did not enjoy this film. I know it got very good reviews online, but I did not find it entertaining. I will say the film was suspenseful, but not entertaining. That is just my personal opinion of the film, and I believe if a film is not entertaining it is probably meant to be more of a form of art or expression- a type of film that should make you feel a certain way. I couldn’t really see this film as art either, it was about a very unlikeable and paranoid character who is suffering from PTSD, I don’t think many people could relate to this type of character, he definitely wasn’t meant to be hated by the audience either, I just didn’t see what the director was going for. The film still used sound in very unique and interesting ways,
