Short Writing Assignment (#2) A Close Reading of Philosophy and Theology Read Philosophy and Theology by John Caputo. Then answer the following questions in an essay. You do not need to do any extra reading or research for this paper, although if you do consult other works you must cite them. Remember: these papers are short because I want them to be polished and concise. You should do at least two drafts. This is a chance to review grammar and style issues and to submit exceptionally good papers. Part 1: Locate Caputo’s four theses. Restate them in your own words to show you understand his main points, i.e. the contours of his argument. (approximately 300 words) Part 2: What is Caputo’s understanding of postmodernism? How does postmodernism provide the basis for (or enable) his claims? (approximately 300 words) Part 3: Caputo sees postmodernism as a positive development for theology. What advantages does theology enjoy in a postmodern context? What are the disadvantages? Do you agree or disagree with Caputo’s argument? Explain. (approximately 400 words) See syllabus for deadlines.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
