English 23 CommentsWeek 1:1.Before the Flood -Week 1- OriginalThe film “Before the Flood” goes over the rapidly increasing problem of climate changewhich has put us into a crisis. The film focuses on the human damage to the Earth andits natural atmosphere. While watching this film I became more aware of my ownpersonal impact on not just my community but the world as a whole. There was a goodpoint made that many americans casually damage the earth. Many time unknowinglythough it has become the norm and many americans wouldn’t know how to live in anyother way2.The Uninhabitable (or at least unwelcoming) Earth - replyIn response to Daniel, I agree that i would not call Wallace-Wells an alarmist at all. Whilehe did bring up disasters that are unlikely to happen given we change our directionregarding climate change, Wallace-Wells is simply publicizing the dire need for thischange. The disasters he mentions are in fact most likely if we keep the ball rolling as itis now. He is bringing awareness to this and to a certain extent even instilling verynecessary fear in the minds of his readers.I also agree with Daniel that he gives thesituation as it is without any sugar coating. Week 2: 1.2°C: Beyond the limit - week 2- OriginalI recall the events of the article by Scott Wilson. I recall thinking about how rapidly thefire was spreading. I was then living in a dorm and could see the fires happening thoughmuch to my surprise i found out this was not an unusual happening. This was intriguing because i often hear aboutsanta barbara's rainy season in January though i noticed i have not experiencedanything of the sort while attending ucsb. This leads me to believe this is the result of therapidly deteriorating state of our climate.2.Fire in Paradise - week 2 - ReplyIn response to Kacey, i also thought the documentary was very saddening to watch. Notonly this but i would add that it was sort of mortifying that this was an effect of our own
