We should always beprepared to lessen the deadly viruses from spreading, even though wecannot stop it from happening. Covid-19 has a big effect on economies allover the world, and no nation have been left unaffected. This has far-reaching implications, not just for the economy, but for the entirepopulation, resulting in significant shifts in how micro, small, and mediumenterprises (MSME) and customers act (Donthu and Gustafsson, 2020).On the 15thof March 2020, the government has implemented anenhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the National Capital Region(NCR) and surrounding areas as part of the government's urgent responseto control and limit the growth of coronavirus disease. On March 17, 2020,this was expanded, and resulted to include the whole island of Luzon.Factories and mass transit has stopped including shutdown for thebusinesses and schools. More than 10,000 government and non-governmentworkers have been afflicted.Because of the ECQ, their basic needs likehealthcare and food necessities are becoming extremely hard for them andfor their family to provide (Covid-19 Economic Growth, Employment, andPoverty Impact Assessment, 2020).Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the enhanced communityquarantine, the government stated that as a result of the closing ofthousands of businesses, more than 4.5 million Filipino workers andemployees have lost their jobs in the year 2020, with the rate ofunemployment at 10.4% - the biggest increase in 15 years (the Philippinessuffers worst job losses in 15 years due to Covid-19 and lockdown 2020).Most of the employees said that their employment had been ceased, hours,and earnings had been decreased, or they had been obliged to take leavewithout pay (Impact of COVID-19 on Employees in the Philippines, 2020).To lessen the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, the government of thePhilippines and other agencies made programs to help and support theaffected workers and employees. The Department of Labor and Employment(DOLE) offered additional monetary support for the afflicted employees andworkers such as the COVID Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) inwhich about 102,895 government sector employees got P5, 000 monetarysupport. The second program is the “Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating
Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers Program #Barangay Ko Bahay KoDisinfecting/Sanitation Project” or the TUPAD-#BKBK who also helped andsent monetary support to nearly 80,000 employees in the non-governmentsector (Lolo, 2020).
