The  scientific study  of mental events  (motivation, affect, cognition; the m ind) and  behavior  (that which can be observed; observable). What’s the difference between a psychologist and psychiatrist (everyone should know  this)? Schooling: Psychiatry Medical School then Residency in Psychiatry M.D. Degree, which is a “practice” degree. Psychologist Graduate School then internship in Clinical Psychology M.A or M.S. followed by Ph.D. Typical training model based on “Scientist-Practitioner” (Makes sense since Psychology is the scientific study  of the mind.) Specialty: Psychiatrist : Pharmacotherapy (the prescription of psychoactive  medication) Psychologist : Psychological testing (tests based on scientific studies) 3 most widely administered tests 1. Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (or Wechsler  Intelligence Scale for Children) 2. Stanford-Binet Intelligence Test 3. MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory)
