Dr. P. Gilmore English 3, Sec. 30 RRJ #2 October 9, 2007 “The Human Situation” I was a little surprised at first that this article does not mention reincarnation, as it’s a major part of Buddhism as it is of Hinduism. However, the mention that life is fleeting is especially memorable because of its parallels to Chinese culture. Of course, many Chinese are Buddhists, and Chinese and Buddhist thinking have many parallels. I find this idea particularly relevant to my life because my parents have repeatedly told me about a Chinese proverb: “Life is irregular.” This idea is related to the idea that life is fleeting in that life is changing and can take an unpleasant spin, especially in the form of death, when we least expect it. Through this proverb, my parents have taught me to cherish everything I have, especially my family, because they won’t be around forever. After coming to college, I have cherished my family life more than I ever did because I have experienced being away from my family. “Is Christianity Hard or Easy?”
