Ethan Kroymann Music 189H Final Project Intro- play production troupe, operettas, came through Omaha 13 times, December 1887- March 1904, played throughout the country, Broadway Victor Herbert o Born 1859, Ireland- Raised German o Moved to USA in 1886 to become part of the Metropolitan Opera in NYC o 1894- Produced first operetta for Bostonians- Prince Ananias o Other operettas included The Serenade, The Wizard of the Nile, and The Fortune Teller All of them became popular o Overall, 2 operas, a cantata, 43 operettas, music to 10 plays, 31 orchestra compositions, 9 band compositions, and numerous compositions for other instruments Reginald De Koven o Born 1859 in Connecticut but moved to Europe to study from 1870-1882 o Composed 20 light operas, hundreds of songs, orchestral works, sonatas, and ballets o His operettas were patterned after those of Gilbert and Sullivan o Most successful- Robin Hood Members of The Bostonians o Consisted of 17-18 people, usually the same people o Most important was Henry Clay Barnabee Tom Karl, Joseph Bartlett, Helen Bertram, W.H. MacDonald
