right arm is fully extended perpendicularly to the side of torso, which is tilted forward at about 40 degrees. The left arm is extended out in front of the figure, perpendicular to the front of the torso. The right leg is planted on the ground and appears to stand vertical, while the left leg is extended back and out from the torso. The head is coming straight up out of the torso. It almost seems as if the work is in an ice skating position. Every surface on this work is flat, showing no expression. Discobolos, the artwork by Myron, is a marble statue which features a muscular man in his windup for throwing a discus. He is just in preparation to release his throw. The man depicted is nude. He has short hair and little emotion on his face. In his position, his right arm is extended back with disk in hand while his left arm is forward across his right knee.
