SMV Policy for reporting assault against healthcare workers: City: California Health and Safety Code 1257.7 As amended in July 2010 requires all criminal assaults resulting in an injury to an on duty hospital shall be reported to the local law enforcement agency. -Mandatory: must be reported within 72 hours -Must be reported to the appropriate person as required in the Violence in the Workplace policy and prevention Plan. Procedure for Assault with injury and treatment at SMV: 1. Security is notified and documents assault 2. Employee is treated for injury but does not want to file a report 3. Security notifies AL, Administration 4. Incident is reviewed by management team to determine that a crime occurred. 5. Security files report with police without identifying victim and documents info on report 6. Security files report with police without identifying victim and documents info on report (if employee wants to file report then security assists contact with law enforcement and adds incident number to report)
