3INTRODUCTIONEvery year, International Business Machines (IBM) conducts opinion surveys to find out amongother things how employees feel about their jobs. Managers are very concern about the jobsatisfaction of employees, it is seen as one factor that is important for business effectiveness.The high level of employee job satisfaction in an organization contributes to low employeeturnover and the outstanding company reputation. Hence, IBM will be seen as a good employer,which helps it to attract high-quality job applicant to fill its positions.Job satisfaction represents a complex assemblage of cognition, emotion and tendencies. There isno definite way of measuring job satisfaction, but there are varieties of ways to identify whenand employee is satisfied or dissatisfied with his or he job. For example, a questionnaire can beused to measure job satisfaction, in this method, it measures the satisfaction with the differentdimensions or facets of the job by the employee and sum of all satisfactions scores will be takenas the overall job satisfaction.It is widely believed that employees are the company’s most valuable assets and they play andimportant role in preserving the successful image of organization. Employee performance is themain factor in ensuring that the organization is run smoothly and successfully. Job satisfaction isan attitude towards job, in other words job satisfaction is an affective or emotional responsetoward various facets of one’s job. A person with a high level of job satisfaction holdspositiveattitudes towards his or her job, while a person who is dissatisfied with his or her job holdsnegative attitudes about the job. Job satisfaction is a result of employees’ perception of how welltheir job provides those things which are viewed as important. This review will present the impactof employee’s job satisfaction on the employee’s performance.
41.0 DEFINITION OF JOB SATISFACTION AND EMPLOYEESPERFORMANCE.The concept of job satisfaction, viewed through different lenses by various scholars, is defineddifferently. Greenberg and Baron (2008), viewed job as a feeling that can produce a positive ornegative effect toward one’s roles and responsibilities at work and added that it is important tounderstand the concept of job satisfaction as there is no single way to satisfy all workers in theworkplace.
