Chapter 1 & 2: Eyes on the PrizeThroughout history, there were many significant events that happened. In Eyes on the Prize this explains the important events that has happened in African American history. There were a lot from desegregations and all of the court cases that had to go into this. Also, this book talks about the significant people who helped fight for their freedom. One man, Charles Hamilton Huston, started noticing that Blacks were not treatedfairly in school situations. He started filming the dramatic disparity between the white and black schools in South Carolina. In the southern states, Blacks weren’t allowed to attend the same school as the Whites. He filmed for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). In this film, “Example of Education Discrimination Among Rural Negroes in South Carolina,” Huston explained how the school conditions were different; blacks had unheated cabins as where the whites has stone and brick structures.
