Each group will havea different topicto write and draw about (e.g. King cakes, Krewes, ormasks). Each group will complete theirportion of the book and present itto the class, then the class as a whole will put their partstogether to create a classroom book about Mardi Grasand itstraditions. Teachers can usestudent made books to teach concepts and to make learning memorable. In the end, the kidsgeta finished product filled with great learning, and the teachers get kids who love to learn.Formative Assessment:Have students look at a picture of a person in a Mardi Grasmask/costume,and ask them whythey think the person isin such a fancy costume?Why do you think people celebrate Mardi Gras?
