Public School System in the CNMI Agency Overview On January 11, 1988, the creation of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Island Public School system became effective after being created pursuant to Article 15 of the constitution of CNMI. The Public School System of the CNMI is the state agency of education that includes pre-school, elementary, and secondary education programs. These programs are often for students aged six to sixteen. These education programs also include special programs in early birth interventions to about three years as well as children aged three to four. Vision Like any other agency, the Public School System of the CNMI also has visions and mission. The vision of CNMI'S Public School System focused on the current society and challenges it encounters. The current society has challenges that require graduates to be equipped with practical skills rather than theoretical and outdated knowledge. Students will graduate college and career ready to be productive in an independent global society.” Mission The Public School System of the CNMI focused much of its missions on the student's welfare. The first mission of the Public School System of the CNMI is to provide all students with equal educational opportunities by offering optimum instructions, curriculum, community services and experiences that would help them work both in academics and their career.
