Maths for QA Consider a process that produces steel shafts. Design specifications call for each shaft to be milled to a thickness of 5.00mm with the specified tolerance of ±0.025mm. The process mean is found to be 5.00mm and the process standard deviation is determined to be 0.006. Calculate Cp and comment on results: Cp = s/p = (Upper – lower) /P P= process mean (5mm) x standard deviation (0.006) Cp= 5.025 – 4.975 / (5)(0.006) Cp= 1.38 Cp – is greater than 1.0 so we expect very few non conforming rods Revision What is quality? The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
