Richard Little Mrs. Boyer English 160 September 5, 2006 Communities Throughout the World One definition of the term community is from www.wordrefernce.com stating that community is, “A group of people having ethnic, cultural, or religious characteristics in common.”. This definition stuck out over the others because of the main idea of this paper. Through shared common characteristics community and culture can be seen as a broad idea relating humanity as a whole all the way down to the narrowest subject, such as a household through shared common characteristics. The entire world can be generalized into one large community which shares habits such as the uses of language, social classes, and religion. Within that community other communities can be found such as states or even towns that share certain principles, such as laws regarding marriage. This happens because a community forms a culture then that culture proceeds to create a smaller community with more shared qualities. Regardless of how one may perceive the
