THE RISE OF ISIS (REACTION PAPER)I.IntroductionI often wonder why in every movie I ever watched about terrorism orpolitical violence, accompanied by dramatization of atrocity, those attacks areplayed by non-Western individuals, especially Muslims. Not all films, per say, however almost all films, and I asked myself; why are Muslims theoppressors? Through the perspective of terrorism movies, usually Muslimsare portrayed as the bad guys. And it oftentimes, makes me questioned thewhy and how; why and how did the perception of terrorism is stereotypicaland ideologically biased through the lens of such films. Then I found outabout the terrorism of 9/11 in America happened last September 2001, aunique act of terrorist attack by the Islamic terrorist group al-Queda againstthe United States, and it changed the face of terrorism. Maybe that’s whymovies are repeatedly filming terrorist attacks done by Muslims because itwas ingrained in people’s mind what happened that leads to such things.Presently, the group al-Queda are reigning terror on all Muslim countries, andthis group is commonly known as the ISIS or ISIL.ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria), or also known as ISIL (Islamic Stateof Iraq and the Levant), has been called the most dangerous terrorist group inhistory. It is the most brutal group known to man and as far as I know, theISIS is heard throughout the globe for its horrifying and gruesome killingsthey did that will surely give you nightmares. In less than two years, it hascreated a dominion over hundreds of thousands of square kilometers andmillions of people. And it possesses the largest and most diverse volunteerfighting force since the Second World War.This is the purposeful plan of violence that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, theIslamic State’s self-appointed Caliph, delineated in his declaration for‘volcanoes of jihad’: to build a worldwide jihadi haven that will eventually uniteto destroy the present world and create a new-old world of universal justiceand peace under the Prophet’s banner. The pivotal ploy in this strategy is to
inspire sympathizers abroad to violence: do what you can, with whatever youhave, wherever you are, whenever possible.
