Borderline Personality Disorder is a serious mental illness that affects a lot of peopleacross the world. It can be extremely challenging to deal with if you or your loved one has it andif not given correct resources and support it can be even more challenging. BPD is a conditioncharacterized by difficulties in regulating emotions or not being able to control emotions. HavingBPD can cause emotions to become extremely intense and these emotional spirals can last forlong periods of time. About 1.6% of the adult population in the U.S. has been diagnosed withBPD. About 75% of the diagnosed are women. A DanishBPD in females aged 15 years or overhas increased linearly has increased from 1970 to 2009.There has been a steady increase in the number of BPD cases in 14 to 17-year-old girlsbetween 2000-2012. For severe BPD 2.8% of boys and 3.8% of girls 11-14-year-olds arediagnosed per year. For moderate BPD 8.3% in boys and 11.5% in girls ages 11-14 years old arediagnosed yearly.
