1Description of the ProgramOhio House Bill 487 provides academically qualified students in grades7 through 12 access to college-level coursework that is not remedial orreligious in nature prior to graduation from high school. This programpromotes rigorous academic pursuits and provides a wide variety ofoptions to college-ready students.Successful completion of collegecourses under this program not only earns secondary studentstransferable college level credit but also credit that satisfies high schoolgraduation criteria.Campus OptionsStudents may apply to any campus of Ohio University. For best access tosupport services, CC+ applicants are encouraged to attend a campus thatserves their geographic area, as described below.Athens:Athens, Hocking, Jackson, Meigs, Morgan, Perry, Vinton, orWashington countiesChillicothe:Adams, Fayette, Highland, Jackson, Pickaway, Pike, Ross, orVinton countiesEastern:Belmont, Carroll, Guernsey, Harrison, Jefferson, Monroe, Noble,or Tuscarawas countiesLancaster:Fairfield, Franklin, Hocking, Licking, Perry, Pickaway, or RosscountiesSouthern:Adams, Gallia, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike or Scioto countiesZanesville:Coshocton, Guernsey, Licking, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble,Perry, Tuscarawas, or Washington countiesEnrollment OptionsApplicants to the CC+ program may choose to enroll in courses under eitherof the following options:Option A (Student pays)The student may elect at the time of enrollment to be responsible forpayment of all tuition and the cost of all textbooks, materials, and feesassociated with the course. Ohio University shall notify the student aboutpayment of tuition and fees in their My OHIO Student Center. At the time ofenrollment, students electing option A shall inform their school counselor ofeither their intent:1.to receive only college credit or2.to receive both high school and college credit for the courseOption B (School district pays)Under this option, the cost of tuition, textbooks, materials and fees are paidfor the student.Upon completion of the course, Ohio University shall awardthe participant credit for the course, and the governing entity of a publicschool or the governing body of a participating nonpublic school shall awardthe student high school credit.EligibilityParticipation in the CC+ program is available to any qualified studentenrolled in a public or nonpublic secondary school during the student’sseventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grade school year; astudent enrolled in a nonchartered nonpublic secondary school in thestudent’s seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grade schoolyear; or a student who has been excused from the compulsory attendancelaw for home instruction.The student or the student’s parent/guardian must inform the principal orequivalent of the student’s school by the first day of April of the student’sintent to participate in the program during the following school year.
