Cell Physiology Lecture 2 September 11 2013 Integrating Cells into Tissues Mitchell Thom Cells Require Energy - ATP is made through Oxidative Phosphorylation with many intermediate steps - Replication of DNA with high fidelity to make perfect copies - Separation of DNA for replication or RNA polymerase - Production of RNA and proteins - Mannnyyyy different types of RNA that are being discovered and studied Cells Function as Biochemical Factories - A number of proteins will work like a factory line to make ATP. The process is  similar for many products with different intermediates - “One factory that makes everything” - All cells utilize the same subset of molecules to derive all of their nees and carry  out specific functions Molecular Machines - Class example is a H+ synthase with a rotor that spins  - ATP is hydrolyzed on one of the subunits which turns the rotor and moves H+ out of the cell - F-type ATPase takes proton force of H+ outside the membrane and makes ATP  from ADP+Phosphate Cells are enclosed in Plasma Membranes -

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
