New Portion: (80%) Life Cycle Know the 3 phases of human development in pregnancy and the way that cells of the  developing baby is nourished in each phase.   Understand what a critical period of development is and when specific critical periods occur. Understand the development and function of the placenta. Know the pregnancy weight gain recommendations and what makes up the weight in a 30 lb  weight gain during pregnancy. What can happen when too much weigh is gained in pregnancy? What causes low birth weight? For the calories and the nutrients carb, protein, folate, iron, calcium what are the  recommendations for pregnancy?
