Final Exam Review  Change: The Exam will have 75 Questions.  It will still be worth 100 points.   Cumulative Portion: (20%) Know the food sources , functions , and deficiency  and toxicity  symptoms for each of the  following nutrients: Vitamins:  C, B12, B6, A, Beta Carotene, D, E, K Folate, Thiamin, Niacin, Riboflavin Minerals:  Calcium, Iron, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium Know the  DRIs  for Sodium, Potassium, Calcium, Iron, Vitamin C, and Folate  Use the glossy insert, class notes and your book. New Portion: (80%) Life Cycle Know the 3 phases of human development in pregnancy and the way that cells of the  developing baby is nourished in each phase.   Understand what a critical period of development is and when specific critical periods occur. Understand the development and function of the placenta. Know the pregnancy weight gain recommendations and what makes up the weight in a 30 lb  weight gain during pregnancy. What can happen when too much weigh is gained in pregnancy? What causes low birth weight? For the calories and the nutrients carb, protein, folate, iron, calcium what are the  recommendations for pregnancy? What are the risks associated with FAS, GDM and Preeclampsia for the mother and fetus?
