What is the recommendation for percent calories coming from carbs in a diet? Be able to calculate this percentage given a total number of calories and grams of carbohydrate: For Example:  You have 2400 calories in a daily diet with 200 grams of carbohydrate.  What % of your diet is carb?   Ans: 30%  Does this meet with the recommendations?  No. How do carbs provide energy for the body? Where is glycogen stored and in what proportion? What does it mean that carbs are “protein sparing” and that they “prevent ketosis”? Review and understand the digestion and absorption of Carbs.  Understand what happens at  the liver with carbs with regard to storage and usage. Simple Carbohydrates
