Tip One: Your Mental State When you can’t remember something on your test even though it’s on the tip of the tongue here is one of the reasons why: State Dependency The state in which you studied; you must be in when you take the test. If you were highly caffeinated studying, then be highly caffeinated taking the test. When learning a subject, try to be in the same mental state you are normally. Don’t leave studying to the night before the test because the next day you won’t have been in the same state you were before.
