The essence of this quote is that your dream does not come true easily without hard working, it only comes when you really try to make it happen. For centuries, this fundamental theorem has been taken as a moral lesson by many generations in different areas. It is also mentioned diversely in American literature. Cather uses the Russians, Pavel and Peter to illustrate that every man could harvest their own fruits of labor through working diligently. In Jim’s memory, Pavel and Peter are two immigrants from Russia. They face a great situation with the wolf before coming to America.
