Intermediate Algebra – Week 3 My first relation is #30 on page 776. Y=4-x^2 I personally like to begin by placing x at zero in the function. This is a good starting point. Then I want to plug in x values to the right and left of zero. My x values were -2, -1, 0, 1, 2 This made my y values 0,3,4,3,0 From these values I can already identify that my y intercept is (4,0), and my x intercepts are (2,0), (-2,0). In fact, this parabola has a maximum value of 4. The domain is, simply put, any real number that can be placed for the value of x that can give the equation an answer. Domain: (- ∞, ∞) The range is the possible outputs of the function Range: (-∞, 4) If we were to move this graph 3 units up, and 4 units to the left, our maximum value would be 7. This would occur at an x value of –4. (-4,7). This would be a
