Essay #2 The Way to Go In commercials, there are many different ways advertisers persuade viewers to buy their products. For many years, through the different appeals that draw millions of people in advertisers have manage to convince people to buy commercial products, such as hair and cleaning products they do not need. One can ask how is a person be persuaded to buy a product through a commercial advertisement? Through the classification of these appeals, viewers are able to decide which appeals work best for them. Humor is described as the best quality. Through the appeal of humor, commercials are able to advertise different types of cars. In the commercial, “The Force: Volkswagen” there is a pint sized Dark Vader character who tries to possess the force with a workout bike, a dog, a washing machine, a baby doll, and a plate of food. As the Dark Vader character is at the point of giving up, the dog starts to bark and what pulls up in the driveway is the 2012 Passat. As Dark Vader starts to concentrate and starts to apply the force to the vehicle, the car turns on, but it wasn’t the force that was applied, it was the father who turned on the car from inside of the house with the key. In this commercial, they wanted to make sure people grasped that Dark Vader started using the ultimate force when he discovers the 2012 Passat in the driveway. Another commercial that used humor as an appeal is the Kia 2013 “Space Babies”. In the car ride, the son asked the question “Where do babies come from?” and the father quickly came up with a story that babies come from a different planet. They travel from space and nine months later they arrive to find their mommies and daddies, but as the father was finishing with the story,
