1SHAKESPEARE PAPERHANA ABDULLAHAfter reading all three of the ‘problem plays’, I decided to analyze the play Measure For Measure writtenby William Shakespeare in 1603. Although the play has somewhat of a dark tone to it, in my opinion it can be best classified as a comedy. In the following paragraphs, I will proceed to discuss how the play Measure For Measurefulfills majority of the requirements-provided by our esteemed professor in our last lesson- that are needed by a play to be classified into the genre of comedy. As talked about above, each play that is categorized into the genre of comedy follows a set checklist. For example, Comedy plays always end in marriages. Our professor mentioned that if everyone ambles on stage then that generally means that they are getting together for marriage and the play is about to end. Thus like Twelfth nightor Midsummer Nightsdream, Measure for Measurealso ends with marriages or rather the promise of them. Claudio and Juliet are reunited. It doesn’t matter that neither
