Why Men are Evil and Everything Wrong with the World Herlandis a novel written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman in the early twentieth century. The novel is about a utopia comprised solely of women which features clear feminist themes. Gilman wanted to show through Herlandhow women were better than men at running a society because of specific ideologies they structured their utopia around. A major argument that Gilman made throughout Herlandwas that men are actually holding women back and are the main reason women are not as successful. Gilman tried to explain that all along it has been men that have caused women to be emotional and weak, and without the influence of men women would have the opportunity to showcase their superior skills.
