Running Header: Domestic Violence1In the 1800’s women were viewed as property. Property of a man and his responsibility.Just like his kids, his wife must be disciplined and taught the way violence saw fit. Today anyidea that is in line with this is known as abuse. In regards to a significant partner, relative, child,or even roommate, all the forms of domestic violence from the 1800’s are not acceptabletoday.Domestic violence has been an issue for many years, way before the 1800’s andunfortunately way after. How we have been dealing with domestic violence seems as if it werethe last subject on the syllabus. Women's right to vote did not come until the 1920’s, secondwave feminism did not see light until the 60’s and through the 80’s, and even in today's society, itseems social media has one of the biggest influences on domestic violence.When speaking of victimization we must understand what it means. Being victimizeddoes not just mean you were assaulted, battered, raped, harassed, or even neglected. It is muchmore than that. It is a toll on the mind that some people will carry with them forever. This does alot of things for the mental stability of a person. This can produce poor work ethic, poorjudgment, poor choice/decision making, poor partner selection, and overall non productivemembers of society. Fortunately, slowly but surely, there have been many advocates, riots,protests, and unions formed to protect our women, children and husbands from avoiding thiskind of behavior. We know men are not left out of the situation but to raise a good man takes agood woman. And both good people raise great children to lead the future. The waves of
